Tanks don't often just explode, they get disabled by many ways such as hitting the engine, turret or tracks. On the other hand, if you aim for the turret, you can probably hit it off, or if you hit the engine from the rear, the tank will be disabled and unable to move. You simply need to get your tank shell, anti-tank grenade, or whatever to hit the right area of armour at the right angle.įor example, hitting the front of a tank, where it is usually most protected, will do little damage at all. Unlike Company of Heroes and most standard RTS games, destroying tanks by just clicking on them doesn't really work. Men of War also has a really interesting damage and physics engine. Only Infantry tend to have health bars, vehicles do not. Your men will run out of ammo and will you have to replace their weapon with enemy ones if you cannot find any ammunition yourself. Men of War can also be considered far more realistic, you can manage the inventory of each individual soldier in squad/s, choosing how many grenades, ammo, which weapon etc. You will also occasionally receive reinforcements depending on the mission but there is no base building or resource gathering as the reinforcements are defined by points, similarly to the World in Conflict game. However, there are also missions when you are control almost an entire army, in which several of your units are split into individual squads and you control them as you would with a single squad.

Usually, you are in command of a single squad, and you are simply given orders to complete several objectives, missions include sneaking through an enemy base with your squad undetected, commanding your squad through a huge battle and so on. Men of War has no resource gathering element, it does not follow the standard RTS formula, which usually combines resource gathering and base building. I've played Faces of War, Men of War and Company of Heroes and the similarities seem end at the fact they are both based in the WW2 era. Is men of war similar to COH? Is it a resource gathering game? Are there realistic map sizes and weapon ranges? Does Men of War contain any of the features which i consider bad?Īpples and oranges, you can't compare them AT ALL.Agreed. I prefer Total war to Age of empires and starcraft and codename panzers didnt cut the mustard with gameplay. Although there were good things like the terrain, cover system and the ruthless ai. The limited range of the units was pretty bad aswell. Insane amounts of micro management was essential and again i hated it. It was extremely demanding game where speed is more important than strategy. It turned into a starcraft-like game (the only reason why i liked starcraft was the map editor and playing Helms Deep online) where soldiers were all fodder and became replaceable within a few seconds. Personally i didn't really like the game play on COH. From what i've heard it seems to be a slower paced game with more realism. Shortly after playing the demo of COH I heard of the game Men of War.
